My battery died in my camera and I can't find the charger...again. This happens repeatedly around here. I lose things all the time but they usually pop up somewhere. I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I've done this in the past and reordered a new charger, gotten the wrong charger, then found the charger. It's a vicious cycle.
In the meantime of trying to find the charger (again) I would like to get a backup camera that takes regular batteries. Something that takes a really good picture but fairly inexpensive. My current camera is a Sony and I love it alot (when it's charged) its lightweight and compact, fits into my pocket and easy to snap pics on the go. I would like another Canon but I can't decide which one...anyone have any suggestions or helpful advice?

Dear Ms. Kim,
I am a friend of Krissie Murphy, and am very familiar with cameras. She said that you were trying to find a camera, and asked me if I could help you.
I would recommend the Canon PowerShot A95. Although it may lack in megapixels, (5.0) it has considerably low prices, and is very compact. NOTE: Although the megapixel is only 5.0, I own an 8.0 megapixel, and often use a 12 megapixel camera and I can't tell the difference between a five and a twelve if the picture is printed smaller then an 8 by 10.
Another good camera would be the Canon PowerShot A620. It is actually an upgrade from the A95, with better Zoom, and more auto focus points. It has also boosted up the megapixels to 7.0. It also has more white balance options. This one though, is a bit more pricy.
I sincerely hope that this information helps.
Best Wishes,
Curran
It's funny that you asked this...we just brought home a Canon Rebel XTi yesterday. We got it on a recommendation of someone I work with. It's 10 megapixels and has some nice features, but it's also friendly to me, I just like to point and shoot. We haven't had a chance to mess around with it much yet, but I will let you know what we think. I hate buying new cameras, we had an awesome one in England and loved it, but I dropped it and it died. )-: I'm such a clutz. We haven't found one yet that lives up to that one, and of course that one is discontinued. Ug. Have a good day!!
That is too funny! We were just in Best Buy last night looking at the Canon Rebel! I didn't do it, instead I got a new charger for my old camera (its a Canon not a Sony) but this morning I tried taking photos of my tomato plants and was not too happy with the results...too much flash. I would like to have a camera that makes vivid images...maybe I'll just have to make the plunge to an SLR?
and my old camera is a Canon PowerShot 650 I think? I do love it, it's a great camera for hamming with the kids, but I would like to take better nature shots and still shots.
Hi Kim,
Thanks for your comment on Sophie's blog about the photography. Chris takes most of the pictures in the family. He uses the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTI with a Tamron 17-50 lens. He does not change lens either.
By the way, is your little girl from Tonggu? I saw the name of Tong Min Se....and was just wondering. She is adorable!!!Sophie is from Tonggu and her Chinese name was Tong Min Han.
